We at SMILE Mass are incredibly excited to introduce our SMILE blog—a new way to share news and insights into the lives of our community members!

If you’re not familiar with us, SMILE Mass is a non-profit founded by two super-mommas whose children both have disabilities. They created this organization to help families raising children or adults with disabilities enjoy happy, healthy memories through recreation and vacations.

This post focuses on our latest venture: “Community within a Community – Club SMILE Mass”—a fully accessible indoor and outdoor recreation area with trails for running, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, kayaking, fishing, swings (for all ages), and an accessible treehouse, among other features.

Designed with universal design in mind, this club will be on 30–40 acres of land, accessible throughout. It may include an adapted gym, a music therapy space, cooking-class kitchen, and more. Its beautiful, accessible design will normalize “being different.” For many, this program will expand opportunities for the most vulnerable to enhance their quality of life.
