THE POWER OF A DUO: Pat & Nicholas 
Lindsey Diomede of Westwood, MA, is running her very first Falmouth Road Race with SMILE Mass—an organization close to her heart since childhood. A former four-year collegiate lacrosse player at Wesleyan University, Lindsey recently transitioned to road racing, placing in the top three of her first organized race. After watching her aunt and cousin participate in SMILE Mass events for years, the recent graduate and Boston wealth management professional is thrilled to finally take the course herself to support the mission.

Hailing from Manchester, New Hampshire, Giovanni “Gio” Nevares is a collegiate cross country and track & field athlete who specializes in the 800 meters. Passionate about his sport and giving back to the community, Gio is running to support SMILE Mass, using his love of running to make a meaningful impact. He is fueled by the opportunity to help others experience the joy of movement and inclusion, and every donation toward his journey helps create opportunities for families to participate, explore, and build lasting memories together, making every one of his miles matter.

Liza Duddy of Sudbury is a gym owner, runner, and longtime supporter of SMILE Mass. She has run Falmouth before and brings an incredible endurance background to the team, including running the Copenhagen Marathon for SMILE Mass with a chair and completing the Javelina Hundred, a 100-mile race, in 24 hours and 38 minutes. Liza is joining the SMILE Mass team again because Lotte told her to, and she is always ready to show up for a meaningful cause. Outside of running and owning her gym, Liza enjoys life with her partner and their dog.

Pat Benson of Lunenburg is an engineer, husband to Jessica Smith, and a dedicated runner returning to the Falmouth Road Race after running it in 2025. Pat’s most impressive running accomplishment to date is completing the 2026 Boston Marathon in 2:41, placing 117th in his age group. This year, he is proud to run with SMILE Mass and begin fundraising to help move the organization closer to the 2027 Boston Marathon start line. Pat believes that anyone can get there, and through his miles, he is supporting SMILE Mass in creating more inclusive opportunities for individuals and families of all abilities.

Matthew McGue of Centerville, MA is a dedicated runner, police officer, husband, and father who is proud to join the SMILE Mass Falmouth Road Race team for another year. A passionate endurance athlete, Matthew has completed numerous races, including five 50-mile ultra marathons in the desert. He is running to support SMILE Mass and its mission to help families with children and adults with disabilities create happy, healthy memories through vacation and recreational experiences. As a police officer involved in community policing initiatives, Matthew sees this race as another meaningful way to serve others, stand up for those who cannot, and help make inclusive experiences like beach days, bike rides, road races, and family adventures possible for everyone. At home, Matthew is married to his wife Kathryn, and together they have a one-year-old daughter, Carson, who keeps him on his toes and gives him plenty of extra cardio.

Risha is passionate about the power of sports to create inclusion and expand opportunities for individuals of all abilities. With more than 10 years of involvement with Special Olympics and after running the 2026 Boston Marathon in support of Special Olympics Massachusetts, she is excited to combine her love of running with her commitment to disability advocacy through SMILE Mass. By building a running community that gives back, she hopes to inspire others to make every mile count while helping create a more inclusive future for individuals with disabilities

My name is Julia Capone and I’m from Westwood, MA. I have never run the Falmouth road race, but I am super excited to this August. My most recent running accomplishment was the Cambridge Half Marathon in 2024. I decided to run with SMILE Mass so I can support a cause that helps raise awareness for people who need support. With my previous work as a medical assistant, I have always had a passion for helping those in need. I graduated Boston College this spring and I just started a masters nursing program! I am so excited to run with SMILE Mass and thank you for the support!
